Consulting.

As a result of Candidate demand, Bishop Partners has expanded its core business of consulting and recruiting to include resume and portfolio consultation. Bob understands resumes and portfolios. After being in the recruiting business for almost 20 years, he sees literally scores of resumes and portfolios every month. He knows what works, why it works and how to create impact. He has an experienced sense of how you and your work could best be presented.

Resumes are arguably, the most important document you’ll ever have to write. Too often, they’re created in a vacuum. Many times, there’s the panicked feeling of needing a resume or portfolio (Now!), but only the faintest notion of how to really create a document that appropriately represents your experience, energy, value and uniqueness.

Furthermore, creating documents strong enough to introduce yourself to a prospective employer and intrigue them enough to want to meet you, is a daunting task.  Bob frequently hears a candidate say, “I’ve never had to write a resume before!”.  Especially after Covid!

Most individuals have nobody to constructively critique or receive candid feedback about it. They don’t have a chance to see how someone else might react to it or interpret it. There are very few “experts” in the resume consulting business who are easily accessible or affordable. There are even with expertise in marketing, creative and digital media.

Bob is interested in filling that void, by being approachable and providing candid, affordable resume and/or portfolio consulting in a timely fashion. And yes, even marketing and account service professionals should have ‘portfolios’, or assemblies of “case studies” or other documents or ‘visual elements’, that help illustrate how they do their work and the results of that work.

Bob will look at the existing resume or body of work and help refine it into a unique representation of you. He can help separate you from other Candidates on an Employer’s desk, by crafting an approach that truly represents your background, experience and personality. It will show a prospective Employer why they should hire you (because of what you’ve achieved and the value you’ve added), not merely what responsibilities you’ve had in the past.

This is a “simple” solution to refining and enhancing an existing resume. This is not a complex process, that starts with a blank sheet of paper and builds your resume from scratch (for thousands of dollars). You do the writing, Bob does the consulting and editing while giving honest, constructive, actionable criticism.

This is the process. You email Bob your existing resume and/or portfolio. The fee starts at $300.00 for two hours of consulting. The fee is slightly more for those currently employed. In most cases, if you already have a resume or portfolio and just need it organized and enhanced, that base fee and amount of time should suffice.

Next, send Bob (via the good ole US Postal Service) a check for the fee to 4331 Baseline Drive, Vero Beach, FL 32967. (contact Bob if you’d rather pay with a credit card or Venmo, Zelle, etc.).  Bob will then personally consult with you and assist in editing your resume and/or portfolio into a more personal and powerful document. It will be a compelling statement of your work achievements and will improve the way Employers perceive you as the Employee they want to hire. By the way, this service is provided via phone, making it accessible to anyone in North America.

Feel free to call or email for more information. We look forward to helping you!

Resume & Consulting Testimonials

“When I found myself unemployed after 11 years at the same holding company, I was frankly at a loss as to how to proceed. The first thing I did was solicit Bob's advice. At times sobering and pointed, Bob's experience and deep knowledge of successful job seeking processes was invaluable to me. He helped me solidify the criteria of what I wanted in an employer, plan a process for seeking out those companies, and advised me on how best to garner their attention. Bob's recommendations for revising my resume and LinkedIn profile were both insightful and specific, and his advice as to networking and expanding the sphere of my contacts was incredibly valuable. The fact is, I was doing a great many thing wrong, for a man looking for a new employer. Bob put me back on the proper path, and reminded me of the skills and processes that are necessary for a job search. If you are newly unemployed or considering a job change, I can't recommend Bob enough.”

Les Hostetler, Search Director at RPAa

“I was referred to Bob from a former co-worker as I started my job search. Bob took the time to not only help me refine my resume, but he also took the time to really understand my career ambitions. The time I spent with Bob allowed me to refine how I was articulating my skills and the value I bring to any organization. He gave me helpful tips on networking, job hunting and interviewing. He was a great asset and someone I could call upon when I needed guidance throughout the job-hunting process. Bob is a true professional and a great partner.”

Jessica Schroer, SVP, Marketing Operations at McCann

“Bob Bishop is best in class! He became a mentor, fierce advocate and friend. Bob's connections are C-Suite and they immediately take his calls and act upon his counsel. He took the time to not only get to know my skill set, but who I am as a person and what I wanted, to ensure a great organizational fit. He is responsive and in a "show, don't tell world" gave concrete examples and actively worked to help me present myself in the best light. He is a deeply caring individual who is also pretty darn funny and engaging. Bob Bishop is a joy to work with and most importantly - gets results FAST!”

Marti Schoettelkotte, Director of Strategic Accounts

“Bob was absolutely instrumental in helping me find a great position in the creative industry. Rather than being put off by my wide range of interests and my lack of accredited qualifications, Bob showed me how to capitalize on my individuality not only as a professional, but also as a creative. As such, his insights into my résumé were spot on and his recommendations were even better! Furthermore, his introductions to key figures in the creative industry were on a considered and genuine interest in connecting likeminded people. He is a great resource as a career advisor, a networking liaison, and a general mentor who enjoys helping people get started in the right place, with the right people.”

"Last year, when I was ready to update and refocus my search for creative opportunities, I looked on LinkedIn and saw that Bob Bishop was doing strategic consulting, including executive recruitment. Having known Bob when he was General Manager at Group360, I reached out to him immediately. From our first conversation, he helped me get refocused on my strengths and helped made me feel good about my accomplishments again.

Bob is an experienced executive and an excellent writer and editor. He is ready to help and knows how to be direct. Bob helped me be in the present and make decisions about what I really want to do now. I love the results and I highly recommend Bob Bishop if you would like to re-connect to your strengths and experience, and are open to new opportunities.

Please feel free to call or message me if you have any questions about this recommendation or about working with Bob."

“Bob has to be one of the kindest people I know. Some time ago, he took time out of his busy day to offer some career advice to me which has since paid off. I would not be where I am at today had it not been for him pointing me in the right direction. I cannot thank him enough for this.”

— Anne Ellegood, Marketing Director, St. Louis

“I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the help you gave me on my resume and portfolio. I just completely redid my portfolio based on the suggestions you gave me and I am actually proud if it now. It is so much nicer looking and effective with your suggestion. Thank you again!”

“Bob is simply wonderful to work with. His no-BS approach to putting great people into great roles is refreshing. It's a treat just to have a conversation with Bob. He provided me with a wealth of support and suggestions, and I feel like I now have a partner in the ever-changing world of career hunting.”

 — Darren Murph, Head of Remote, GitLab, Inc.

“When I started working with Bob, I had a list: job titles, responsibilities, accomplishments and other odds and ends of my professional life, marched onto the page one by one and arranged in descending chronological order. From all appearances, it was a resume. What it wasn't, however, was the kind of document that could stand up on its own, inspire confidence in my abilities, and instill in readers a burning desire to pick up the phone and ask me to come interview.

What I've got now, after working with Bob, is something that can genuinely be called a resume. My former laundry list of experiences is now refined, targeted, and re-worked to demonstrate clear value to readers. What I've got now is the confidence that my resume does the best possible job of conveying the experience and value I can bring to a potential employer.”
